average quality pictures, even though described as slim but actually it is a very bulky camera, difficult to carry around in a pocket.

3 out of 5 stars So close...   July 19, 2008
Jonas Bendsen (Columbus, Ohio)
This camera is soooo close to perfect, but for one HUGE problem. Twice I have dropped the camera, and twice I have had to send it in for repair ($30 for "shipping" both times). Both times, I have dropped the camera from a sitting position (not a far fall), and the camera then simply states that the "anti-shake" mechanism is not working. There is no way to bypass this. If the gyro that prevents blur from camera shake isn't functioning, you own a brick. That's a MAJOR problem.

Otherwise, the fact that this camera has 7x zoom in camera AND video mode, no zoom noise, no protruding zoom, lightening fast start up with nearly 0 shutter lag (incredibly important to me), all make this the best all around camera on the market. Not to mention that on top of all this, it's still "casio small" and fits easily in my jeans pocket.

The photo and video quality is quite good. It's not going to compete with a digital SLR, and Canon products are probably slightly better on photo quality, but when considering all the features (especially start up, shutter lag, zoom and size), my money is on this camera.

If only it weren't fragile as an egg. Maybe they've fixed the issue in the EX-V8?

1 out of 5 stars Crappy ...   August 1, 2008
P. Garg (NJ, USA)
There cannot be a more horrible product than this. Takes normal pictures in bright light (but which camera doesn't). Anything else and the results are intolerable. Anti-shake and image stablilization are a joke.

Never try to use this camera indoors. Horrible pictures & video.

The Best Shot modes are useless. I changed the mode to fireworks and tried taking a video/picture. Guess what...simply unwatchabe pics.

Horrible product. Stay away!! I wish I could give 0 stars
