Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Excellent Picture, Poor Control   December 7, 2007
A. Preston Moser (Ashland, OR USA)
PRO's: Let me start with the good stuff: The color accuracy and picture quality of the Lumens PS-600 projector is superb. It has better picture quality and truer colors than the Elmo HV5100XG (which also has an extremely good picture.) The camera head can easily be turned, a very handy feature.

CON's: Whoever designed the control interface did a really poor job. When turned off, it has two red LED's lit which might make you think it is on. Pressing the ON/OFF button does not turn it on or off. You have to press and hold the ON/OFF button for a few seconds in order to turn the Document Camera on or off. (Pity those who have to provide equipment support as they will have to leave detailed instructions or provide training to users.) Another extremely poor design feature is the RS-232 interface. With any normal, reasonable interface, you send it a command to turn on, and a different command to turn off. With this Camera you first have to send it a command to tell it you want to send it a command, then you wait for it to send a response that it is ready for your command. Once it finally gives you permission to send a command, it does not provide a command for ON and a command for OFF, it only provides a TOGGLE POWER STATE command, so if the camera happens to be on when the RS232 control system is attempting to turn it ON it will turn it OFF instead. A very poor design.
