Amazon.com Review Few people other than Oprah can count Bono, Alicia Keys, Sen. Barack Obama, and award-winning authors Amy Bloom and Ann Patchett among her buddies. Oprah's rightfully tapped these friendships over the years for contributions to O, The Oprah Magazine, for Q & A's and ruminations that cover such topics as love, friendship, the creative process, and how to cultivate joy. In Live Your Best Life, the past several years' worth of articles have been own pared down into a collection of the most "rip and save-worthy" ones. A bit surprisingly, some of the more stick-in-your-head essays and profiles are by and about people who are far from household names, but who are putting their souls into work that's bettering themselves and world. Like Susan Buckley, who lost 75 pounds and kept it off for 11 years; or "everyday hero" Saranne Rothberg, who founded the nonprofit Comedy Cures, to bring humor to people who, like herself, have faced a cancer diagnosis. While the majority of the book's topics are woman-focused ("Oprah Talks to a Mother of 9"; "Getting Married: The Strategic Approach"), a good chunk of it ought to appeal to men, such as the interviews with Barack Obama and Nelson Mandela. Speaking of chunky, the book's hefty enough to induce wrist strain--as if the editors of O and Oprah meant it to be read only while propped on your lap, as you take a well-deserved break, stretched out on a comfy sofa.--Erica Jorgensen

Great book! October 7, 2005 Iris (the netherlands) 32 out of 35 found this review helpful
I'm a huge oprah fan and since O exists, I bought it and I now have a subscription for 3 years. I never throw a O away, but they take a lot of space. When i heard of this book, i ordered it and eventually can throw away the O's. You can find everything you want very easy with the different chapters, it's what the introductio says: "we did the cutting and clipping for you."

Entirely Inspiring - Truly Something for Everyone 10 Stars! November 30, 2005 Barbara Rose (BornToInspire.com) 16 out of 18 found this review helpful
This beautiful, oversized, full color breathtaking book is filled with some of the best articles I've come across all in one place. There's really something for everyone in this book. The categories are: Your Personal Best, Diet & Exercise, Health & Beauty, Balance, Happiness, Confidence, Dreaming Big, Spirituality, Relationships, Dating, Couples, Marriage, Sex, Talking & Listening, Family, On Being a Parent, Friends, Living in the World, Everyday Heroes, Giving Back, Make a Connection. The contributors bring the best of the best advice, REAL information, (I just love the article about what makes Mavis and Jay Leno's marriage work) and I can genuinely say that this is a book that is timeless. It doesn't try to show you the latest, it brings you the greatest content that can really make a significant difference in your life, and in the lives of your children. It makes a great coffee table book, because when people open it up, their going to get some extraordinarily great information in a book that is top notch quality. It's one I really recommend from my heart to anyone who wants to learn more, grow more, and create the greatest life possible. The Best of Oprah... December 3, 2005 Fedra Pouideh [Feddy] 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
I've got my little book of Oprah's "What I Know for Sure" supplement and "Live Your Best Life" on one nightstand, and my grad school book the "Blushing MBA" on the other. Each night I read passages from each and it inspires me to really go for my goals and start a business. (LYBL taps into the topics of starting a business or a new job.) What resonated most deeply was the confidence factor which seemed to be the common thread among most of the advice or milestones - confidence in yourself, your life, choices, partners, work. From a layout perspective, the book is beautiful and very appealing to those visually stimulated by color.
INSPIRING AND WORTH IT! December 30, 2005 MartysGirl (San Francisco, CA) 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
I got this book as a Christmas present. I love it. What a great book. Recently I discovered the O magazine and its articles on beautiful stories that inspire you, fill your heart and make you believe again. This book is a compliation of past articles (articles that I missed) in one great book. I open to any page and start reading and I'm refreshed and feeling good about life. I especially enjoyed the articles on Spirituality, relationships, marriage and weight loss. Everyone has a story and Oprah makes sure we hear about them and are inspired. I love it.
