Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Since delivering his keynote speech at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, Barack Obama has been hailed as the clear savior of not only the Democratic party, but of the integrity of American politics. Despite the fact that he burst onto the national scene seemingly overnight, his name recognition has grown by leaps and bounds ever since.

Barack Obama in His Own Words, a book of quotes from the Illinois Senator, allows those who aren't as familiar with his politics to learn quickly where he stands on abortion, religion, AIDS, his critics, foreign policy, Iraq, the War on Terror, unemployment, gay marriage, and a host of other important issues facing America and the world.

2 out of 5 stars Out of context quotes   June 27, 2007

This book is a collection of quotes taken from various speeches and comments made by Barak Obama. While it is informative in some ways, I hesitate to accept quotes that are taken from a larger text, interview, or speech simply because the context is missing. When a quote is taken out of a larger whole, sometimes the meaning can be misconstrued. If you are already strongly familiar with Obama, this book probably tells you things that you already know. If you are not, it is a good idea to read other books as well as transcripts of Obama's speeches so that you can form your own opinions as to how these comments should be taken. For real insight into Barak Obama, I suggest that you read "Dreams From My Father."

3 out of 5 stars Not the best source for Obama   February 22, 2008

Barack Obama In His Own Words is interesting and would be useful as a research tool for anyone writing about Obama, but it is nowhere near as interesting as his own books, all of which are insightful and fascinating.

5 out of 5 stars Our Next President???   May 9, 2007

This book gives further insights into Barack Obama, who may well be the next President of the United States.
It gives us glimpses into his thoughts and thinking processes, and into how great he is, how he is a Man with a capital M. How he may well be the one person able to bring all Americans together, overcoming anyone's personal prejudices, and rising to the heights that this great country was meant for.
It reads well, like his other two books.
Well done, Mr. Obama!

4 out of 5 stars Great Book, Great Man!!!   December 12, 2007

The previous reviewers assertion that Barack Obama is a Muslim is blatantly false! It is but one of several variants of the same tired story of twisted facts whose implication is that this good and decent man, a true shining star in American politics, is somehow intent on fooling the voting (and reading) public, sneaking into the Whitehouse, once there to don a turban and wreak havoc on the whole of Christianity and the standards of American decency it alone purports loudly to define, and itself apparently responsible for sooooooo much goodness in the world at large. What amazes me about the aforementioned ridiculous "review" is not so much that it appears here in the first place, but rather that the reviewer is obviously more willing to embrace this nonsense than to spend even a few minutes checking the facts to quickly disprove it. The book is good, the man is even better, the previous conspiracy-peddling reviewer is an idiot, and symptoms abound as Christian Nationalism is alive and well in America!

4 out of 5 stars Good Insight into Obama   October 28, 2007

This is an "easy read", but very informative. I would like to see this type of publication for every candidate for public office. I finished the book in one session. I found out a lot about Obama that I did not know.
