Product Description
Ready to move from DV into the HDV realm? High-definition video, or HDV, is the latest technology to answer the demand for better-quality video images. Indeed, this format has greatly improved the overall quality of digital video, but capturing, editing, and outputting HDV can be tricky. That's where "HDV Filmmaking" comes into play. As one of the first books on the subject of HDV, this useful reference will take you through the entire spectrum of HDV production and post-production, from choosing a high-definition video format and an HDV camcorder, to acquiring and editing HDV, to working with advanced HDV effects and delivering your finished product. You'll start by learning the basics about high-definition formats and then quickly move into more advanced topics, such as how to install and configure an HDV editing system, how to color-correct video, how to edit and mix audio, and how to use 3D images and animations in your work. Interviews with professional filmmakers and other artists help round out this comprehensive reference. Whether you are a professional in the film industry or a film student interested in the latest technologies and techniques, "HDV Filmmaking" is your guide to the exciting world of high-definition video.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Covers all aspects to make a decision about HDV   April 9, 2007
Timothy J. Lynn (Australia)
I found this book extremely helpful in coming to understand the idiosyncrasies of HDV. What was most helpful was learning that amongst all the hype of HDV there are aspects that, if I was left unaware of, would have compromised the look of my final product - not a great position to be in when promoting a business.

3 out of 5 stars Big Book, but it gets easily and often sidetracked about general dv filmmaking   April 11, 2006

4 out of 4 found this review helpful

I was suprised by the size of the book, in fact it was a little daunting at first, I felt overwhelmed at the amount of information. The content was good, but I think the book fell into the trap of trying to cover everything about filmmaking and as a result, it often diverts from HDV to cover general filmmaking. I specifically wanted to know about HDV and I found myself having to skip over many sections to search out the information that related to HDV. Overall I found it to be an interesting read, but I would have preffered a dedicated book about HDV as the title claims.
