Product Description
The 29th edition of the best-selling, original drug handbook for nurses has been revamped expressly to appeal to the education market as well as the practice market. This comprehensive reference provides complete monographs for more than 900 generic and 3,000 trade drugs. The monographs are consistently formatted for ease of use, and they focus on the practical information that practicing nurses need. Each monograph consists of generic and trade names, pregnancy risk category, controlled substance schedule (if applicable), available forms, indications and dosages (including dosage adjustments) administration for all routes (plus I.V. drug incompatibilities (for I.V. drugs), drug action (including tables showing route, onset, peak, and duration), adverse reactions, interactions, effects on lab test results, contraindications, nursing considerations, and patient teaching. A new chapter on drug classes is being added to the front of the book. The back-of-book CD is being ported to a Web toolkit with videos about medication administration, a color-photo pill guide, dosage calculators, interactions algorithms, and much more. NDHnow.com keeps the book up to date with partial monographs for new drugs.

A drug book that's easy to digest September 3, 2008 bodymending 47 out of 48 found this review helpful
As a healthcare worker who works in a hospital, I see this book (and its various editions) on just about every floor- whether it be the cardiac floor, neurology floor, or the orthopedic floor. The point is that the scope of this book is so large and complete, that it will be a handy reference to everybody who treats patients, no matter what the diagnosis. So if you're looking for a small, complete drug reference- this is your book. Also recommend The Sixty-Second Motivator for tips on how to increase patient compliancy with taking meds.
Great August 11, 2008 JPMD2011 (IL) 19 out of 21 found this review helpful
I am a med student and find this book very user friendly especially when just getting into pharm. I haven't had a great amount of use with it yet, but it is wonderful in the clinic when you need to look up side effects quickly.

I work at a medical facility and new laws say there needs to be a drug reference book available for the nurses. The price was perfect & I recommended this book be bought by all our facilites to be in compliance. The book was very current & had many illistations of pills & medications. I will buy the 2009 book when it comes out for our office.

Well trusted product...have used these drug references over 18years and finally decided I'll never win the free book, don't want to pay the $52 the company wants with shipping and handling, so Amazon is a winner! Book is new condition, like I'd expect from the company.
