Product Description A #1 USA Today best seller A Wall Street Journal best seller A BusinessWeek best seller An 800-CEO-READ best seller Fear. Public speaking is one of the most common phobias. Whether presenting a sales pitch to a small group of decision makers or addressing a crowd of hundreds at a company forum, all presenters harbor the same fear. Master speaker TJ Walker has the solution--the secret--to giving foolproof presentations: focus on what the audience really wants. Based on thousands of presentation workshops and personal coaching sessions with CEOs, prime ministers, members of Congress, and average business people, TJ Walker's Secret to Foolproof Presentations will make every reader a better presenter. The book details his audience-centric approach to preparing, rehearsing, testing, and delivering presentations that will keep listeners talking about the message long after they've left the room. Walker addresses the most common questions speakers have, such as - How long should my presentation be?
- How can I best use technology in my presentation?
- When should I take questions?
- What do I do if I make a mistake?
- What should I do with my hands?
In a direct, conversational, and often humorous style, Walker offers novice presenters and savvy speakers specific advice and concrete techniques that will make every presentation memorable and foolproof.

A must have resource! April 20, 2009 Reader Views (Austin, Texas) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful

I had a big resounding "yes" when I read "...the reason most presenters fall flat is because they are focused on what they want to say and how they want to say it. Presenters rarely stop to consider what the audience wants to hear or how the audience wants the message delivered." I've gone to so many presentations that totally bored me and because of that, as a presenter myself I am very aware of what TJ Walker, in "TJ Walker's Secrets to Foolproof Presentations" is discussing.
Written like the author is talking directly to the reader (actually, the flap says: A $10,000 Speaking Workshop for $19.95) this concise, user-friendly book delivers everything a presenter needs to know. Walker, with more than twenty-five years of experience as speaker and presentation coach, offers key points on how to prepare for your presentation (e.g. video yourself first), how to create your presentation (e.g. using humor), how to decide whether or not to use PowerPoint or other visuals, as well as how to deliver your presentation. He also has a "troubleshooting" section and covers areas such as what to do if you forget what you were going to say and how to get rid of the "ums."
"TJ Walker's Secret to Foolproof Presentation" by TJ Walker is a must-have resource for any person wanting to break into the speaker/presenter venue, as well as for anyone already in the industry. I'm one of the "already in the industry" and learned so much from just reviewing this book. I look forward to implementing new techniques or changing ones that truly didn't work for my audience. Walker's tips and techniques give concrete and direct tools for success, no doubt about it.
Do you need confidence? Here's how I got it. June 30, 2009 T. Harkins (Cherry Hill NJ) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am an expert in my field, not in public speaking. With coaching by TJ Walker, I've learned to be conversational. Gone are the days I try to speak like I write. Now during a presentation, I just have a conversation. I have the same conversation with my audience as I would with my best friend. It's better for my audience and better for me.

Great tips inside June 29, 2009 R.G. (Washington, DC) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
TJ Walker gives the best tips you can get to make your presentation more interesting and engaging. His book is an extremely valuable tool for anyone that needs to stand in front of an audience and don't want to be forgotten the minute people walk out the door. I highly recommend this book.
It get's results June 25, 2009 Ward Noxon (Santa Ana, CA United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I read the book. It is a great summary of what we have learned the hard way over many years. In fact a little over a week ago I needed to do a telephone conference presentation to an account in Austin, TX., that I have been courting for over a year. I flipped through the book and decided, "So, why are we here" followed by a short summary of the past year, stated goals and unstated needs. Landed the account in 45 minutes! My honest thoughts . . . A well prepared and rehearsed presentation that does does not waste the audience time, hits the important marks and allows for the follow-up and implementation . . . as they say is "Priceless". Your book hits the marks!
Powerpoint must June 23, 2009 Jeffrie G. Caves (Boise,Idaho) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Some of the things covered on power point I had thought or heard, TJ confirmed it. A must have for sales people who want to improve and move away from paper handouts. Easy read and very practical.
