Product Description In order to meet growing consumer demand for storing lots of pictures, movies, and music, a dependable high-speed and greater capacity memory card is indispensable. Transcend's SDHC cards use brand name NAND Flash chips and premium quality components to ensure robust, long-life durability and excellent performance. This combo package that includes a SDHC card together with a compact Card Reader S5 makes transferring data easier than ever. Just slide the SDHC card into S5 and plug it directly into any USB 2.0 (or 1.1) port and is capable of data transfer rates up to 480Mb/s. The reader works just like a standard USB flash drive, and supports the SDHC standard for hi-end large capacity memory cards. Transcend's SDHC + the world's thinnest SD / MMC Card Reader S5 is the perfect combination for your mobile lifestyle.

Reader not recognized September 5, 2008 R. Fritz (Marietta, GA United States) 51 out of 53 found this review helpful
Although the card is fine, which I the main reason I purchased, the reader doesn't appear to be properly recognized on any USB port on either my desktop or laptop, both running XP. Both computers 'see' the drive and I can navigate to the files on the card, however, if I try to copy any files to the card, I get a message indicating the card is locked...which it isn't...I've set the lock on the card to both positions several times to make sure. The card reads fine in the built in SD reader on my laptop and through a SanDisk reader plugged into my desktop. I tried downloading the driver and app from the Transcend website but it aborts because it doesn't 'see' that the reader is attached...tried it with the card in and with the card out...same result. If the main reason you're buying this combo is the nice little reader, you might think twice.
Excellent Value - but be careful where you order it from... October 13, 2008 NLee the Engineer (Nashua, NH) 30 out of 30 found this review helpful
I purchased the 16GB version (Transcend 16GB SDHC CARD with Compact Card Reader) of this package a few months ago. The card was meant to be used in my Canon S5 camera. But I soon discovered that it works extremely well with the included card reader as an USB flash drive (much larger and faster than my SanDisk 4GB Cruzer Micro). So I ended up using it mainly for data backup and transfer between my laptop and desktop computers. The card has proven to be fast and reliable in the past 2-3 months of daily usage. As first I was skeptical about Transcend's speed rating of 'class 6', which means minimum 6MB/S when writing. But my own benchmark results (see Customer Images) showed that this card is capable of writing typical photo files at 10.5MB/S - nearly twice its specified minimum data transfer rate. Just for reference, the Sandisk 8GB EXTREME III claims a faster speed of 20MB/S, but it costs about twice as much. Considering its low cost and respectable speed, this Transcend card is an excellent buy. But please make sure that you order it from a reputable vendor only. Several reviewers who ordered the 16GB version from TheMemStore complained that they received some no-name card reader (instead of the Transcend DRS5). This may explain why some people have encountered problems when using this card.
Great memory card and reader combination. September 30, 2008 John Kuykendall (Virginia, USA) 23 out of 24 found this review helpful
Needed a larger capacity SD-HC memory card for my digital camera. Saw this card/reader combo on Amazon for a great price, easily half of what I could have bought locally. Very happy with the card so far -- NOTE: The only problem with these high-capacity cards is that they apparently can't be read with a normal SD reader.
Works September 25, 2008 KidHorn (Maryland) 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
I bought this for use in a canon hf100 camera and so far it works fine. I'm buying a second one. I like the card reader. It makes it much easier to transfer files to my computer as opposed to using the usb cable that came with the camera. I can also plug the card reader in my ps3 and play the video directly to it.
great for older computers September 30, 2008 R. E. COOKSON 7 out of 12 found this review helpful
i have an older laptop with only 1 usb port, and with this product along with the 8GB card,i can add extra storage.this helps keep my laptop running fast and efficient.
